Qld needs a Plastic Bag Ban and Container Refund Scheme.
Don’t let up. We are so close. Email your pollies one more time.
After decades of calls, emails and petitions from Queenslanders – our voices have finally been heard. Change is within our grasp.
The Qld Government have introduced a Bill into parliament to legislate the ban on plastic bags and a container refund scheme for Queensland – but it is yet to be passed. We need you to make it a home run.
In case it hasn’t been said it enough, plastic is expected to outweigh fish in our oceans by 2050!
That is outrageous – especially when we can do so much about it. Plastic bag bans and container refund schemes are proven to work in dramatically stemming the tide of plastic that is polluting our oceans.
You could be forgiven for thinking this was already settled and Qld was already on the way to getting a plastic bag ban and a container refund scheme – don’t put your mind at ease just yet. It is not a done deal – but we are on the home stretch. We can’t afford to let this slip through our fingers at the last moment.
Email the crossbench MPs in Far North Queensland to tell them to support the government’s Waste Reduction and Recycling Amendment Bill 2017 without delay and pass the legislation without a fuss.
The last thing we want to see is this become a political football in the upcoming election.
We should have had this legislation a decade ago. No more delays.
